In Auvergne there are lots of old volcanoes and this is one of them: it's only about 6102 ft high. I didn't walk all the steps to the very top as I had decided to sketch it from a café table, sitting just outside the cable car arrival ( lazy me !)

Ravel Castle
We visited quite a few castles that some owners find difficult and too expensive to repair and preserve.

The Church in Saint Nectaire Le Haut
One of the large Roman churches one can see in Auvergne (centre of France) mostly built with dark volcanic stone. Impressive and austere !
The self catering cottage in the "middle of nowhere!"
Lost down a winding road, with very few neighbours apart from chickens, rabbits, deer and owls, no internet, no possible phone connection, we spent two weeks in this cottage with my husband, my sister and my Mum, and some friends joined us for daytime visits and meals. These were quiet holidays for sure !

De retour de stage Randocroquis !
Une semaine de croquis bretons géniale avec un groupe très sympathique, un "prof" à la hauteur: patient, attentif et plein de bons conseils à mettre en application ! Que de bons souvenirs et une furieuse envie de recommencer !!
A great week sketching plein air in Brittany ! A very nice group and an excellent "teacher": patient and helpful who gave us very good advice we just have to follow now ! I just wish I can have the opportunity of another similar session !

Ma dernière aquarelle avec l'atelier de Michel Bertrand / My latest watercolour with Michel Bertrand's class
Commencée pendant l'atelier du mardi et terminée aujourd'hui chez moi, c'est une "pâle copie' d'une aquarelle de John Blockley. Tenter de copier ce tableau m'a cependant obligée à "forcer" la couleur, ce qui n'est pas facile pour moi !
Started during Michel Bertrand's class and finished today, it's a "pale copy" of a watercolour by John Blockley. Trying to copy his painting made me use stronger colours which is quite unusual and somewhat difficult for me !

Ce que je hais dans les départs en vacances: faire les valises ! Je passe un temps fou à décider ce que je vais emporter! Je sors un stock de Tshirts de mon armoire , les dispose sur mon lit, puis je me dis qu'il va peut-être faire frais, alors j'en sors d'autres, plus chauds .... oui, mais s'il fait très chaud ????.......... Je décide alors de me laisser un temps de réflexion, 10 30 minutes, parfois plus, tandis que je trouve une autre occupation. Et c'est alors que je me rends compte qu'il est 19 heures et que ma valise est toujours vide................ Et s'il pleut ??? .......... Que vais-je prendre alors ??????? ..
J'ai donc pensé que j'avais vraiment besoin d'une machine comme celle-ci !!

Pas satisfaite du résultat, je suis trop "revenue" sur certaines parties et je trouve l'ensemble terne et un peu "boueux" ! Mais il n'y a rien de tel que de voir ce que l'on fait, avec du recul, pour progresser un peu, non ????
Not satisfied with the result. I fiddled too much with it and I find it dull and a bit "muiddy". But still, I think it's good to look back on my mistakes if I want to improve !

EDM # 274 - Draw the cover of your favourite book : "Crocodiles' yellow eyes" / La couverture de mon livre préféré: " Les Yeux Jaunes des Crocodiles"
Un des livres que je viens de terminer et qui m'a beaucoup plu : "Les yeux Jaunes des Crocodiles " de Katherine Pancol.
J'en suis au troisième volume de la saga et j'aime toujours autant !
I don't know whether it will remain my "favourite" book but it's the first volume of Katherine Pancol' saga and I really loved it !
At the moment I'm reading the third volume .
The titles she chose are pretty funny at first sight but explained later when reading the books !!If I translate them word for word, it reads:
1) Crocodiles' yellow eyes
2) The tortoises' slow waltz
3) Central Park squirrels are sad on Mondays

J'étais un peu intimidée à l'idée de lancer cette 27è édition du Sketchcrawl à Paris mais tout s'est bien passé: temps agréable, bien qu'un peu frais le matin, des compagnons de croquis charmants, le tout dans un joli coin de Paris, du canal St Martin au Bassin de la Villette:
